Hi, I'm Demi, I'm 23. I come on here to ramble about my latest thoughts on life and what I'm getting up to in mine.

A few days away in Wiltshire with James and his family :)

On Sunday the 9th August my boyfriend James and I along with James' mum, went up to Steeple Ashton in Wiltshire to visit their family. It normally takes about 3-4 hours to get there by car, but on this occasion it took 5 hours (poor James' mum) we only stopped off for about half an hour on the way there for something to eat and a toilet break!

We arrived at about 3 and were greeted by James' Grandad and cackling laugh from his Auntie Deb inside... we could hear her before we even saw her haha.
Not long after we arrived and had sorted out our bags and duvets and pillows, we enjoyed a lovely Pork Roast Dinner, it was just what we needed after the long journey.
That evening James and I were babysitting James' 2 and half year old cousin Grace. The two older cousins were not there unfortunately,so I was unable to meet them.
Toddlers are energetic! We did bring sweets round, but decided that she was hyper enough so kept them for ourselves, hehe. It was so much fun spending time with Grace, she kept us entertained right up until her parents returned, and then went off to bed with no fuss.

The next day we (me,James,James' Grandad and Mum) all went for lunch at a pub called The Brewery Inn in Seend, Cleeve, in Wiltshire. It was a small pub, as are all the pubs around there, small but filled with local friendly people who create a welcoming atmosphere. I had a lovely lasagne, it was quite a varied menu considering it was quite a small place. After we'd filled our bellies we drove to Caen Hill Locks and had a little walk around, I'd never actually been to any Locks so was quite intrigued as to what happened with the all the boats they had there, definitely don't think I could hack living on a boat.

Later on in the evening James and I went for a walk around the local area by his Grandads house as James wanted show me around. After a short walk we went back for something to eat. Once we'd eaten we went back out as James suggested catching the sunset, and we did which was really lovely. We finished the night with a few drinks at the local pub.

The area James' Grandad lives in is really peaceful and calm. It's one of those village areas where everyone knows each other. Everyone we met were so welcoming and friendly. I felt like I'd stepped into Emmerdale haha, minus the drama.
It was so nice to get away from everything for a few days, and spend some time together.

A Day in my Life - 05.08.2015

I often think about doing a day in the life post but always think that it won't be interesting and it's not worth writing about, but I thought I'd do one this week as I've had a relatively productive day... although they are not massive tasks, I got done what I needed to and that's always good.

First things first, I went for my run as part of the Couch to 5K programme. I am on week 2 after successfully completing week 1 wahooooooo! So this means the time you run for has slightly increased which makes it more difficult, but I managed it. The overall aim is to work your way up to running 5K comfortably and I'm determined to complete it, it goes on for 9 weeks I believe, providing I keep up with it I should be a little bit fitter for my holiday.

After my run I went into town with my Sister and met my boyfriend too as he was already there, and we all had lunch together at a Wetherspoons. I tried to go for something big as we didn't have much in for dinner, so needed something to fill me up and it's worked, still not that hungry and I last ate about 6 hours ago. The actual reason for going into town was to get my dads birthday present as it's his birthday tomorrow and we'd only got cards so far.. and we still were not very successful - sorry Dad! Hopefully you enjoy your meal and aren't too down about the lack of presents your 'extremely thoughtful' daughters have got you...

Once I got in from town, I sorted through all of my emails- they just mount up so quickly! I feel much better now that they are all cleared and my inbox says 0.

One very important email I received was from GoThinkBig and it was giving me the opportunity to apply for work experience at a well known magazine which is something I've been looking for,for so long, so I was really happy about that and spent ages on my application so am keeping everything crossed than I get accepted for it. Wish me luck!

Just thought I'd try something different today, I hope you don't mind,

Thoughts lately...

What have you been up to people ask? Work is my answer, work work and more work.

I work in a clothes shop, which is currently holding it's biggest sale ever. It has been extremely busy and everyone has been non-stop. The queues on the first two days were longer than I have ever seen them and I have been working there over a year...they were worse than Christmas! It's like people had never seen clothes before, stupidly busy. So everyone has been helping out putting in extra hours. Unfortunately head office have cut lots of hours, which obviously isn't good for anyone. My contracted hours have still remained the same, but I rely on the extra hours a lot and won't have half as much overtime now. So now, I think it's time for me to start looking for a new job...

Soon I have my driving test coming up and I am so so desperate to pass! This will be my 3rd attempt. In my lessons I am fine, and the lesson you have before the test I'm fine, it's just the test itself I've not been as good, hence the fails. Me and my instructor may actually have a full on crying session this time round with either me passing or failing. I feel like I have been learning forever and to fail and do it again, and again and now a third time is rather frustrating, but you have got to keep at it. I am so used to my instructor that when someone else is there instead of her I think I freak out a little bit, because I haven't got her reassurance. So she has suggested taking a mock test (eeeek) or having my boyfriend or someone sit in on my lessons so that I get used to someone else being there, I think I prefer the second option. Also my instructor has suggested eating a banana before I take my test, as many of her other learners have and they have passed...I didn't eat one on the other two tests,so on this one I am going to even though I don't really like them, if I do it and pass, it'll be hilarious :')

My holiday is fast approaching, yay!! It's August this weekend, and I go in September, so it really isn't long. It's all paid for, we just need to sort out insurance, how we're getting to and from the airport and I need to get some euros before I spend all my money! If I change it up, I can't spend it. I'm pretty much sorted with clothes, don't need to go too mad shopping as we're only going for a week, and when we get back it's going to be nearing Winter (ish) so I won't be able to wear much of it,so it'd be a waste. I would quite like to get my own suitcase but it's not vital, I'm sure someone has one I can use if I don't get round to buying one.
I've mentioned it before, but I've never been on holiday on my own before (as in no parents) so it's a little daunting trying to sort all this stuff out. My boyfriend is very with it when it comes to this sort of thing, so I know I'm in good hands!  Exciting!!! :)

So those are the things on my mind at the moment, just felt I needed to unload a little bit.

Getting fit!

So, I have been exercising...yes you heard correctly the girl who never exercises has decided to do so - Why?

In all honesty I have never really been bothered by exercising or getting fit,it crosses my mind occasionally but never that much that I want to do anything about it. I'm quite petite anyway wearing size 8-10 clothes, I'm happy at this size so often don't feel the need to go all out on exercise as I'm happy the way I am. I'm not the healthiest eater on the planet but I do try (not that hard) to keep an eye on what foods I put into my body, more so now than I've ever done before.
Although, you try and take chocolate away from me,you have a battle on your hands.

So the main reason I have started to add some exercise into my life is to get myself toned. I'm happy with what I have,I just want it to be less... jiggly. (Bum and things,I'm talking to you).

Later this year I am going on holiday for the first time in about 6/7 years, and I thought this would be a good thing to aim to get fit-ish for. The last time I went away I was 13,so wasn't really that bothered about what I looked like on a beach, but this time round I will be more into what clothes I wear and how I look in bikinis etc, as I'm older and you obviously feel different about things from 13 -20. I'm not overall that bothered about what I do look like but I thought this would be a good incentive to help me make the little changes I would like, to my body.

So how am I doing it?

On YouTube,I have found a channel run by Lucy Wyndham-Read and have been really enjoying her workouts, they are shorts videos that usually combine 2 high intensity exercises that you alternate between and do it from about 5-7 minutes,so I may do 2-3 of them in a session. Alongside that I recently purchased Charlotte Crosby's workout DVD and just looking at her transformation on the front makes me want put in my DVD player and do it. I also really enjoy swimming and living locally to a pool helps. At the moment I'm only doing about half an hours worth of exercise, but will be gradually building it up. So with those three activities combined, I should be as fit as anything by September!

I'll keep you updated...

What's on my countdown list?...

Before I got an iPhone, I'd never used a countdown app in my life but it almost seems obligatory to have one when you have an iPhone, so I got one...

And I actually do quite like using it. I find it fun,and it is just really helpful showing you clearly how long you have until a certain event. I like it especially when you have a few countdowns in a row (making you look busy) it's nice knowing you have things coming up that you can look forward to.

So first thing on my Countdown is...

My driving test - I'm not telling you when it is, but the reason I'm looking forward to it (slightly) is because there have been two cancellations so I've managed to bring it forward and now don't have wait as long, which is what I was most annoyed about after failing my previous one - having to wait nearly 3 months to re-take it. If I pass it will be the biggest relief ever, I feel like I have been learning for years and years!

My Holiday to Majorca  - Currently 79 days away. Ever since it has been booked,I've not been looking forward to it that much, only because it has been so far in future it hasn't felt like I'm actually going away. All of a sudden I am excited. Yayyyy!! I think some of it is to do with the fact that everywhere you look there is pictures of people on their holidays and I just think I am actually going away as well! Also I have already got 3 bikinis..but as I keep saying I have got to start buying holiday stuff now because by the time I go the shops will have already started bringing winter stuff out.

Imagine Dragons Concert at the O2 - Currently 131 days away. Now this one is a present from me to my boyfriend for his birthday, and I'm going with him so that is why it's on my list. Not a huge ID fan but I know a few songs so I'm sure it'll be fine. It's not about getting to 20 years old and saying you've only seen an S Club 7 concert is it? ;) So I thought I would change that, but annoyingly he sort ruined the surprise and I had to tell him before he bought the tickets himself :')

Most of all though, what I am looking forward to is James coming back from Australia. I have missed him so much, I've never wanted to see a person so badly! We had never spent more than 5 days apart and sometimes even that was like "Whyyyyyy? :(" so going from that straight into 3 weeks was tough. I have found that it makes you really appreciate the other person and makes you want to make the most of the time you have together. It feels like he has been away for over a month. My friend's boyfriend goes away for months at a time with very little or no contact,I don't know how she does it sometimes.

What are you looking forward to?

6 Things I'm happy about this week

Not my own image, but I love this little saying.

I just want to share a few things that have happened in the past week that I am grateful and happy for.

So,

1 - I have drunk lots of water, and not just this week either, in general I drink it a lot more than I used to,quite often I will go for water and not anything fizzy, which is good obviously. So I'm happy that I've started doing this, without even realising really. I just used to think it was so plain and tasteless (which it is) but I drink it because I enjoy my food so much I don't want to bloat myself, and not be able to eat my meal. I don't crave fizzy drinks anywhere near as much as I used too.

2 - I had lots of photos on my phone of recent events, that I kept looking at and thought I should get them printed out,and not have them just stuck on my phone/Facebook/Instagram but have a physical copy of them. So that is what I did,I got two of each so there is some for me,some for others. I've put one in a frame on my bedside table, now to decide where to put the rest. Photos add a personal touch to a room,so mine has quite a few :)

3 - My holiday for September is paid off,I just owe my boyfriend a little bit now. It's me,him and our friends Sarah and Chris,we're going to Spain for a week, on the 13th, 3 days after my birthday...not a bad birthday present is it? First holiday without parents, oooooooooooooohyeah.

4- I have managed to keep my room tidy for over two weeks (well I haven't actually been counting) as in - I haven't let clothes build up all over the place,I've not cluttered my desk with crap basically, and have put things back where they come from after using them. Clear room, clear mind...it's a thing right? Well that's what I'm going with anyway.

5 - I have managed to put a little bit of money aside this month which is quite difficult for me as I don't have a very big income, I said I would put some money in a pot each week and I've stuck to it. I don't quite know what I'm saving for, it's sort of a mix - just general savings/ a car / money towards my holiday. I just hope I can stick to it!

6- During the week it was my driving test and my 6 month anniversary with James - on the same day. Currently James is in Australia so we couldn't do anything, which was a bit meh,but nothing we could do about it. To add to that I failed my test, so it wasn't a great day for me,buuuuut then when I got home I went upstairs to find a parcel on my bed. So I opened it and in the box was a bunch of flowers, a good luck card, and a balloon with 'I Love You' on it. How sweet :') I didn't suspect a thing, it was such a nice surprise after what had happened. I've never got flowers and surprise things before so I was really happy, and he'd planned it before he even went away which was nearly two weeks ago,so sneaky :P and I know you'll being reading this James, thank you, I love you loads <3

So there we have it, six things that made me happy this week.

What are you happy about?

ZSL London Zoo & Westfields

On Monday just gone, my boyfriend James and I went to London Zoo with our friends Sarah and Chris.
We have all been wanting to go to London together for a while whether it be just seeing the sights or just going shopping.
We decided to go to the Zoo, three out of the four of us had not been before, so that was nice.

We arrived at about 12,so there was plenty of time to explore. James is quite the Zoo fan and if he hadn't have been with us he would have been in and around in about 2-3 hours, but we dragged it out good and proper and were still there when it was about to close. There was no need to look at the map  really or read the signs as James knew exactly where to go and what everything was called (geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek). Although, it was helpful as it meant not just walking around and around and getting bored or lost and missing out on certain areas.
It turns out that Chris is quite the sign reader so quite often we left him to it and went off to look at something else haha.

As Zoo's go,it is a good one and much to my boyfriends delight,I would go back again as a couple of areas we wanted to look at were closed.
I've been trying to think of what my favourite part was but I can't choose.
After we eventually left the Zoo, we travelled to Westfields for some dinner and ironically ate at a place called Giraffe, and was it was very tasty.

It was a long but enjoyable day spent with good company before my boyfriend ditched us all for Australia for a few weeks, alright for some ;)

What I've been up to...

Hello friends,how are we?

It's now June...just stop for a minute and let that sink in...halfway through the year already! Wowzerrrrrrs. Time has absolutely flown by.

My last post was in February, which was pretty much the start of the year so bit by bit I'm going to fill you in with what I've been up to over the last few months.

At the end of 2014, I looked back on the year and I felt that I hadn't really done much or been to many places and had nothing to tell anyone about. So I was out to make 2015 much better and so far it has been just that. I hope to for it to continue and that I have a well fulfilled year.

My trip to Brighton...
At the start of March my boyfriend and I decided to go to Brighton for a few days. After speaking about it a few times we finally decided to book train and hotel tickets. They were very cheap which was great and after arriving I found it was relatively easy to get to, my boyfriend would clarify that I'm rubbish at getting to pretty much anywhere, but even I didn't find it all that confusing.
We were both quite excited as it was our first trip away together :)

It didn't take too long to get there and we'd already booked a restaurant for the evening,so we had a few hours to chill out before we went for dinner. We dumped our bags in the hotel room and went for a walk along the pier and took some typical touristy photos. Haha.
We then went back to room for a bit, which had THE smallest bathroom that we could just about both fit in,which as quite funny. For our meal we went to a place called Smokeys and we really enjoyed it, it was an American barbecue type place. I would like to go there again.

The next day was our full day,so we had more time to have a look around. We took another walk along the pier, just because we could and then when we went off to have a look through The Lanes, which is loads of little lanes and alleyways full of shops and cafes. So went to have a look and do some shopping and being a chocolate lover of course had to stop off at Choccywoccydoodah....mmmmm. Best Hot Chocolate I have ever had. A bold statement, I know.

If I was going to go again I would like to go for a bit longer so we could fit more things in as we weren't there for very long so didn't get to do that much and the weather was quite miserable, but that aside we both had really good time and want to go back at some point.

Treats at Choccywoccydoodah.

The most delicious Hot Chocolate.

Me and my love, look how happy we are to be in Brighton.

Classic seafront pic.

Hope you enjoyed this, more to come soon...

Katie Piper - An Inspiration

Ever since I heard about Katie's story, I have followed her life very closely as I could not quite believe what this poor woman was having to going through. Katie Piper has well and truly come out the other side and is an absolute inspiration to not just victims of what she went through but to everyone.

If you are unaware, in 2008 Katie Piper was attacked with acid that was thrown in her face, this was an evil scheme plotted by her boyfriend. He had a a dodgy background that Katie didn't know anything about,he'd previously served a jail sentence for throwing boiling water in another mans face. Katie wasn't too keen on him and was planning to end the short relationship anyway. Lynch as he is known also raped and beat Katie shortly before the acid attack, and kept her hostage for eight hours in the hotel they were due to stay in.
‘The blood from my head wound was everywhere – on the bed, on the carpets, on the bathroom tiles"

Katie feared for her life and didn't tell the police and didn't tell anyone exactly what had happened. Days later Lynch bombarded Katie with apologies and sent her an email. Katie had to go to an Internet cafe to read it as she had no Internet connection, on her walk to the cafe was when dreaded attack happened and Katie's life was changed forever.

Katie could have let this absolutely destroy her and for a while it did emotionally and physically. She will never forget such an ordeal, but Katie is now doing amazingly well in moving forward with her life and leaving what she can in the past.
Katie Piper was an aspiring model and TV presenter before the attack. Now Katie is an amazing role model that many people look up to and rely on to help them cope especially if they have been in similar situations to Katie.
Katie has started to carve a brilliant career in TV and as an author and has been awarded A Pride of Britain Award and has previously been voted Woman of the Year. Both very well deserved.

Katie set up The Katie Piper Foundation in 2009 and says "the vision is a world where scars do not limit a persons function, social inclusion or sense of well-being" (http://www.katiepiperfoundation.org.uk/meet-katie/

I believe Katie is a massive inspiration to everyone and I will continue to look up to her as a very inspirational and strong woman. It just shows how you can come back from being so low and wanting to give up, but not being defeated, changing your life, and moving onto bigger and better things.

"You never know what being strong is until being strong is your only choice" .

Busy...but good busy.

Hello Everyone :)

'Busy but good busy' / 'Time flies when you're having fun' - This is basically the reason for lack of blog posts. I have been so busy it's ridiculous well it is for me as I'm never that busy haha.

It's typical that I have left my blog so long and not written anything, when I have had the busiest month ever with so much to write about! I don't understand why I have done this either.

Moving on.

So since my last post, one thing that has happened is that I am in a new relationship and I'm very happy, I don't want to say too much as I want to keep it private, but it is going very well and I'm so glad I/we decided to go for it .

I have FINALLY booked my driving test! If I didn't book it soon,I would have never have done it. It's been a about a month since I booked it and I booked it 3 months in advance so I still have plenty of time until the day, so at the moment it's just about going over everything and making sure I can still do it all properly and to a passable level! EEEEK. All my friends passed 1st or 2nd time, so no pressure.

In the new year two things I have started doing is writing letters and drinking green tea. I have always quite liked the idea of writing letters and in my new diary (I never use them, but am determined to stick with this one ALL year, so far,so good) on the 13th January it said 'Send a letter Day' so  I did...and I sent it to my Nan. I got a reply soon after and now we are 3 letters in and it's going well! I love receiving it in the post, and looking forward to it each week. The Green Tea, I like tea and I have always thought about trying Green Tea but never really bothered. I thought well it's still tea and it's not a very 'out there' one so it can't be too bad, and it's meant to be good for you. So I did it, I went and got some green tea, doesn't look great but doesn't actually taste too bad,I think I'm used to the taste now.

My current dilemma is deciding between finding a new general/full time job,a media job (as Print Based Media is what I did at College) or going to Uni. AHHHHHHHHH.
So much to look at, information overload.

It feels so good to be writing this again, I still have plenty to say but you will have to wait till next time...

Lots of Love
